This lens caused a great stir at the 1970 Photokina show because of its speed, as it had an extremely large aperture for a 74° angle of view. With this angle of view wider than 74°, it assures very high resolution and contrast even at full aperture. The rear group of lens elements shifts its relative position to other elements according to focused distance. This system, called “floating elements” correction, is required of large aperture wide-angle lenses to maintain image quality at close focusing distance. A multi-layer coating is applied on each glass-to-air surface of the optical elements of the lens to give optimum photographic results.

Please note that the following important points when you see our grading description. When applied to lenses it means that the optics are in perfect condition. What we are describing is the cosmetic condition of the lens barrel. When it applies to cameras, motor drives, speedlights etc. the understanding is that the item is in perfect working order and the description would mean the exterior appearance. In other words we are judging cosmetic appearance.
