The Nikon AF Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5D (MKIII) is the third version iteration of such a model. Featuring a ‘push-pull’ zoom with internal focusing ‘IF’. It was produced from 1994 to 2001. Unlike the first two models, it can transmit focus distance into the camera. It has an optical design of 16 elements in 12 groups, including aspherical elements.
All three versions of this lens differ mechanically. The MKIII version is much alike to the MKII, but does not have a macro mode and a special button to enable it, and visually the new version is noticeably smaller than the previous one. You can quickly identify the version by the ‘D’ in the lens name.
This lens is a good all-rounder of bygone times, with very good build quality and good image quality.
