Nikon 52mm Soft 1 filter

£39.00

The item photographed may not be the actual model but is used for illustrative purposes only.

Boxed. Like the B2 and B8, the B12 Dark-Blue Filter subtracts red and thus cools down colourations. B2 is a mild filter used with daylight film to remove the reddish tinge from sunrise and sunset shots. The medium-blue B8 corrects colour when clear flashbulbs are used with daylight film. B12 is a colour conversion filter which naturalises the red cast produced by photofloods when shooting indoors with daylight film.

Filter factor is 1.2 – 2.2.

Description

Nikon Soft Focus Filters No. 1 and No. 2, are available in three screw-in sizes – 52mm, 62mm, and 72mm – to fit in the front thread of any Nikkor or Nikon Series E lens. On one side of the filter, a special coating in which silver is used, imparts a slight flare to the image without blurring. Regardless of the f/stop used, the effect will be the same. On the opposite side of the filter, NIC (Nikon Integrated Coating) is used for even, light transmission.

No. 1 Filter.

The weaker of the two soft focus filters, the No. 1 Filter is recommended for creating “Romantic-style” portraits of children or young women or for softening the lines in the faces of older people. Another use is in producing abstract close-up shots of flowers. This filter works best when the overall subject is light in tone.

No. 2 Filter

When you want to create the impression of fog in a landscape or when a small highlighted subject is surrounded by large, dark areas, the No. 2 Filter is the one to use.

Note: For even greater effects, try combining the No. 1 and No. 2 Filters, However, with a wide-angle lens, this may cause vignetting.

Before taking important shots, it is recommended to run a test with these filters to determine whether the results are appropriate for the subject.
